I made these little cuties as a commission for a fellow mom looking for something to keep her little one’s arms warm during the cold months. I used this free pattern as a reference to write the pattern for these little arm warmers. I thought some of you avid crocheters might like to make some of these for a special little one, so I’m sharing my pattern with you. Enjoy!
What you need:
I (5.5 mm) hook
Yarn (a 3.5 oz skein will make at least one pair, if not two)
Final Measurements:
around elbow (widest part of arm warmer): 8.5″
around forearm: 8″
around wrist: 6″
around hand: 5″
knuckles to elbow (length of finished arm warmer): 10.5″
The Pattern:
START SIDE A (or arm warmer #1):
Ch 28
SIDE A:
Round 1: Ch 3 (counts as dc). Dc in next ch and in each ch around (28 dc). Sl st to top of ch at start of round.
Round 2: Ch 3 (counts as dc). Dc in next ch and in each ch around (28 dc). Sl st to top of ch at start of round.
Round 3: Dc in each of first 9 sts. Over next 2 sts, work dec dc. Dc in each of next 9 sts. Over next 2 sts, work dec dc. Continue working in dc to end of round (26 dc). Sl st into ch. Ch 3, turn.
Round 4-7: repeat round 2 (26 dc)
Round 8: dc in each of first 4 sts. Over next 2 sts, work dec dc. Dc in each of next 13 sts. Over next 2 sts, work dec dc. Continue working in ds to end of round (24 dc). Sl st into ch. Ch 3, turn.
Round 9: repeat round 8 (22 dc)
Round 10: repeat round 3 (22 sts each round)
Round 11: dc in each of first 4 sts. *Over next 2 sts, work dec dc. Dc in each of next 4 sts.* 2 more times. Continue working in dc to end of round (19 dc). Sl st into ch. Ch 3, turn.
Round 12-13: repeat round 2 (19 dc)
round 14: dc in each of first 5 sts. Over next 2 sts, work dec dc. Dc in each of next 5 sts. Over next 2 sts, work dec dc. Continue working in dc to end of row. (17 dc) sl st into ch. Ch 3, turn.
Round 15: dc in each of first 2 sts. Ch 3, skip 3 sts–thumbhole created. Dc in each remaining st. ch 3. Turn.
Round 16-17: repeat round 2, ch 1, turn. (17 dc)
Round 18: sc in each st around. Join and fasten off. (17 sc)
SIDE B (or arm warmer #2):
Follow directions from side a through round 14. Fasten off.
Round 15: attach yarn as opposite side of round just worked. Dc in each of first 2 sts. Ch 3, skip 3 sts–thumbhole created. Dc in each remaining st. ch 3, turn.
Round 16-17: repeat round 2, ch 1, turn. Fasten off. (17dc)
Round 18, sc in each st around. (17sc)
OPTIONAL TRIM: Join yarn to round 1 with a slip stitch, sc. *Skip 1 ch, 5 dc into next ch, sk 1 ch, sc in next stitch* (one shell stitch made). Repeat until you reach first shell, join with a sl st.
