Homemade Ranch Dressing/Dip Mix (with Jalapeno Ranch Variation)

My friend Vienna is going to be so happy that I’m finally saving this recipe, rather than intending to ask her again and again (I’ve already asked her at least 3 times) for this recipe.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE this dressing, it is so flavorful and tastes better than any store-bought ranch dressing I’ve ever tasted….and because of that, I’m sharing the recipe with you.
Ranch Dressing Mix
5 Tablespoons dried minced onions
7 teaspoon parsley flakes
4 teaspoon salt (Vienna and I both cut the salt in half—better results)
1 teaspoon garlic powder
Mix together and store in an air tight container.
For dressing: Mix 2 Tablespoons dry mix with 1 cup mayonnaise and 1 cup buttermilk or sour cream. (Vienna uses buttermilk, I use sour cream and a little half and half to loosen it up and make it a bit more pourable.)
For dip: Mix 2 Tablespoons dry mix with 2 cups sour cream or kreme fresh.
Mix up a few hours before serving, so the flavors all blend nicely.
For a spicy twist, replace the half and half or some of the buttermilk with the liquid from a jar of pickled jalapenos to make Jalapeno Ranch. If you really love jalapenos like I do, chop up 10-15 jalapeno rings and add those to your dressing. It’s delicious!

  1. WOOHOO Thanks Kristi. I was just here once again admiring your note book for Home Management. I’m thinking of taking one of my large notebooks and doing the same thing. But either you or Carrie will have to teach me how to use the spread sheet.

OH and office 07 and 10 are compatible for power point. I took the stuff Jacob had and put it on my computer and it opened just fine. So, if Sky needed to she could either use my computer or my laptop when she’s here.
