I have a few friends who suffer from Lupus. All of them have a really difficult time with muscle pain, and often (amongst many other constant aches and pains). Recently, I was able to make up an aromatherapy massage oil blend for one of my friends, Cindy, and thankfully she’s really experienced some benefits from using it.Below, I will be sharing the recipe for this massage oil, as well as the properties of all of the oils I used, in as much as they pertain to aiding in soothing muscle aches and easing emotional and mental tension.
Cindy’s Massage Oil
6 tsp grapeseed oil (base oil, easily absorbed into the skin)
18 drops lavender essential oil (analgesic, antidepressent, sedative, tonic)
14 drops rosemary essential oil (analgesic, antispasmodic)
4 drops frankincense essential oil (anti-inflammatory, sedative, tonic)
NOTE: Avoid using during pregnancy. As with all herbs, please do your research before using them.
Properties mentioned above:
-analgesic – relieves/diminishes pain
-antidepressant – uplifts and counteracts depression
-sedative – calms and reduces nervousness, distress and agitation
-tonic – invigorates and strengthens the body
-antispasmodic – relives spasms and cramps of the smooth muscles
-antiinflammatory – relieves or alleviates inflammation

NOTE: All information on properties of essential oils taken from The Aromatherapy Bible by Gill Farrer-Harris.

This oil has been a God send for me. I have severe Fibromyalgia and extreme nerve pain. This wonder oil is better than any drug that I had been given by Dr’s. Muscle relaxers never worked. Along with the great weather of SoCal and this oil, I am able to live again. I still have pain, but unlike the past few years of my life I am not bed ridden all the time. Living in CA makes a huge difference. I did’t realize how much until we went on vacation to AZ and NM. As we aproached Maricopa County in AZ I felt stabbing pain in my shoulder and hip joints as they began to swell. Four hours later and I could barely move. When we arrived in NM it was dry and I functioned (barely), then two days later the humidity rose and the storms blew in. My joints were so swollen and my nerve pain was off the chart. I spent the rest of our vaca in bed
. The day we left NM I was on the verge of tears from the pain, nothing was helping. The oil however did help keep my muscles from knotting up. By the time we reached Tucson, it took all I had in me to eat dinner and walk to our hotel room. The next morning I could barely get out of bed. Driving thru AZ was so painful. Then as we were aproaching Palm Springs, my demeanor must have changed, because Abby asked if I was feeling better. I realized that I had gotten more chatty and was laughing, then noticed that I was sitting and holding my head up without pain!! Sure enough, somewhere between the outskirts of Phoenix and Palm Springs the swelling in my joints decreased. I went from barely being able to walk in the morn and afternoon to just feeling tender and tired and was able to drive myself and go to the grocery store when we returned home that night!! Since coming home, I have been able to keep my neck and shoulder muscles happy with my wonder oil. Thank you so much!!! I have been thanking God for moving my family to CA, meeting wonderful people like you and for letting me live in a climate that has returned to me a life that isn’t spent laid up in bed.
I am so glad this is working for you, Cindy. Were you able to make some for yourself? Let me know if you need a little lesson, girl! (It’s really not that hard, just more fun to “play” with friends!)
